The short version

The beta gave you one weekend. This time the servers stay up. WARDOGS opens into Early Access on Steam on Thursday 10 September 2026, and exactly one thing sits on the calendar between now and then: the studio's own showcase on the third.

When it unlocks where you live

The date is locked. The hour is not, and BULKHEAD has not said when on the tenth the button gets pressed.

Our read
Both timed events so far ran on a UK evening clock: the beta opened at 17:00 UTC and the show starts at 18:00 UTC. We expect launch in that window, which lands early afternoon on the US east coast and morning on the west. That is a guess until the studio posts the hour, and this page changes the moment it does.

When the hour lands, the full city table goes here, the same one we ran for the beta weekend.

What it costs

Two editions, ten dollars apart.

  • Standard, $39.99. The game.
  • Supporter, $49.99. The game plus cosmetics: camo sets for the faction signature rifles, a paint job for the Little Bird and a supporter tag next to your name on the scoreboard.

We would buy Standard. The Supporter cosmetics are clean and none of them move a fight. If you want to put ten dollars behind the studio, that is the whole pitch, and it is an honest one.

What you are buying on day one

The game the beta showed, kept on. Up to a hundred players split across three factions fight over one Control Zone on a two by two kilometre battlefield, with a smaller Hot Zone drifting inside it that counts double. Infantry, ground vehicles, helicopters and artillery share the same match, you can build and you can level what somebody else built, and your cash follows you out of the match.

The armory behind that runs 38 weapons and 28 vehicles, from sidearms through tanks and transport helicopters, and six classes that level separately. If the systems are new to you, the Control Zone chapter explains the scoring and Cash & The Economy covers the wallet. The full inventory is in the armory database.

What else lands on the tenth is the open question. BULKHEAD is holding a reveal for the show on 3 September that it says nobody will see coming, one week before the doors open. If that reveal adds to the launch box, this page picks it up the same night.

Is it worth $39.99

Honest answer: it depends on what you want from a shooter. Here is who we think should press the button on day one.

  • Buy at the door if combined arms is your genre and the persistent wallet sounds like a feature. Money you earn driving a supply run is money you spend on a better rifle next life, and no round feels disposable.
  • Buy at the door if you have a squad. The best nights in the beta were four people, one vehicle and a plan that survived contact for about a minute.
  • Wait a patch if you strictly solo. You can make money and win fights alone, and the ceiling of the game still belongs to squads.
  • Wait a patch if moving balance annoys you. This is Early Access, the meta shifted with every pass through the beta cycle, and it will keep shifting after launch.

We are buying at the door, and we run a fan site, so weigh that how you like. The sharper question is how it stacks against what you already play, and we wrote both comparisons up: WARDOGS vs Squad and WARDOGS vs Battlefield.

Get squared away before the tenth

Launch night disappears into menus if you let it. Do the reading now and spend the evening in the zone instead.

Questions people ask

When does WARDOGS release?

Early Access opens on Steam on Thursday 10 September 2026. BULKHEAD has not announced the hour yet. Both timed events so far ran on a UK evening clock, so plan for that until the studio says otherwise.

How much does WARDOGS cost?

$39.99 for the Standard Edition. The Supporter Edition is $49.99 and adds cosmetics: faction weapon camos, a Little Bird paint job and a supporter tag on the scoreboard.

Is WARDOGS worth buying in Early Access?

We think so if you want large combined-arms fights with a persistent wallet attached, and doubly so if you have a squad. If you only play solo, or you want a game whose balance has stopped moving, waiting a patch or two costs you nothing.

What is in WARDOGS at Early Access launch?

Matches of up to 100 players across three factions, fighting over one Control Zone on a 2 km battlefield. Infantry, ground vehicles, helicopters and artillery share the match, with building and destruction on top, six classes to level and a wallet that persists between matches.

Is WARDOGS coming to console?

Early Access is PC on Steam. BULKHEAD has not announced console versions.
